This nucleic acid amplification test is intended to be used as an aid to the diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis (BV) in women with a clinical presentation consistent with this disorder. The assay utilizes real time transcription-mediated amplification (TMA) for detection and quantitation of bacteria associated with BV, including Lactobacillus (L. gasseri, L. crispatus, and L. jensenii), Gardnerella vaginalis and Atopobium vaginae.
